Polwarth is a breed that comprises 25% Lincoln and 75% Merino. It rivals Merino in softness, though with the addition of Lincoln, this wool has a longer staple, more lustre and is stronger. It can be worn right next to the skin.

Although I recommend hand-washing to prolong the life of your knits, this yarn may be machine washed on a gentle wool cycle, then laid flat to dry.

As with other hand dyed yarns, I would recommend alternating skeins every two rows or so.

I care deeply about the environment and am aware of the effects that chemicals can have on it, so I make every effort to exhaust all dyes in the dyebath so that no nasties go down the plughole. It is not always possible to exhaust *all* the dye, all the time, especially with certain dyeing techniques, so if you are intending on using your yarn for colourwork or with paler colours it pays to give it a wash first, just to be sure.

I try to ensure all colours look true on my monitor, but let’s face it, we know they vary, so if you’re unsure about a particular colourway please get in touch!
